'I am married to Pam and we have two children (James and Tom). I grew up in Birkenhead and moved to St Alban's in my teens. After school I read theology at Manchester University, worked for the Walls Meat company as a labourer, and trained for ordination at Ridley Hall Cambridge. My curacy was in Maccesfield and then I was Vicar of Christ Church, Wharton, for 8 years. I was then D.D.O. for Canterbury Diocese and Priest-in-charge of Thanington Without. I have been Princial of the CBDTI since the beginning of 1999. My research interest is in doctrine and hermeneutics (theology of kenosis) and my hobbies are detective stories and most forms of sport.'

I am at present the Priest-in-Charge of the parish of St. Bartholomew, Chipping and St. Michael, Whitewell two small villages situated on the edge of the Trough of Bowland and lying in between Preston and Clitheroe. Before my ordination I spent many years as a Director/Actor of a small Theatre-in-Education and Community Theatre company in the North West before moving on to life as a Stipendiary Reader in Berkshire and finally working for the Children’s Society as an Appeals Organiser. I trained on the Northern Ordination Course and received a Master of Theology Degree. Post ordination I served my curacy at St. Mary the Virgin, Prescot in the Liverpool diocese and then took a year out to undertake an M.A. in Women and Religion at Lancaster University and remained to continue researching for a PhD. Prior to taking up my present appointment and after completing my M.A., I served as Assistant Priest at Scotforth St. Paul’s in Lancaster. Apart from academic and parish life I enjoy fell walking, art gallery and exhibition visiting, and increasing my collection of books and DVDs!

Senior Tutor (Half Time): Karl Möller.
Also Lecturer in Biblical Studies at St Martin’s College, Lancaster (half-time).

Having grown up in the north of Germany, my wife Maja and I moved to Cheltenham in 1994 where I did my PhD in Old Testament at the University of Gloucestershire. In 2003 we came to Morecambe in order for me to take up my post at St Martin's College, but prior to that I was Course Co-ordinator for the Open Theological College and Research Fellow at the University of Gloucestershire. During that time I also taught a few courses at Wycliffe Hall (Oxford). My research interests are the book of Amos, biblical hermeneutics, rhetorical criticism and historical criticism. I have published a book on Amos (entitled A Prophet in Debate: The Rhetoric of Persuasion in the Book of Amos), various articles on Old Testament studies and co-edited three books on biblical interpretation. We have two children, Tobias and Sarah, and my hobbies are cooking, good literature and football (German, of course).
